Liberty Chapel Cemetery is a well-kept active cemetery located approximately 3.5 miles north of Carthage on Highway 79 just north of the Jim Reeves Memorial and directly behind Liberty Chapel Church (1766 US-79 N). It is a family cemetery for the direct descendants and relatives of Richard Ormand Respess and Nanny Lois Williams Adams Respess. The first person was buried here in 1880 and the most recent in 2021. There are approximately 250 persons interred here. Most graves are marked however, there are a number of graves which are unmarked, or have become unmarked, over the years.
The cemetery is governed by a Board of Directors and operated by an elected President and Secretary/Treasurer.
