The next Graveyard Working will be Saturday, May 3rd, 2025.
1st Saturday of May every year.
Each year, at 11am on the first Saturday in May, a “graveyard working” is held under the pavilion at the cemetery. Years ago, people would bring hoes and rakes, the ladies would cook a dish, and everyone pitched in to clean up the cemetery then have lunch. These days we pay a groundskeeper to maintain the cemetery throughout the year but we still meet under the pavilion and have lunch. It’s a family style buffet where everyone brings a dish. There are normally between 35 to 50 people in attendance and it is open to all so please come, we would love to meet you! At that time, we visit the graves of our relatives and put out flowers for them, if so desired, as well as catch up with those distant and close relatives who are still with us. Since the cemetery is operated through the monetary donations of its members, updates are given for burials and sales as well as expenses incurred over the preceding year. Donations are accepted at this time as well as by mail throughout the year.
